COMMENTARY ON THE
GOSPEL ACCORDING TO SAINT THOMAS
Logion 43
| 43. His disciples said to him,
"Who art thou, that thou should say
these things unto us?" Jesus said unto them, "Ye know not who I am from what I say unto you, but ye have become like unto the Jews, for they either love the tree and hate its fruit or love the fruit and hate the tree." |
Mt 7:16-20 (Cf. Th 45) "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." |
