Logion 38

38. Jesus said, “Many times have ye desired to hear these words which I do speak unto you, and ye have none other that ye may hear them from. There will come days when ye will seek me and ye will find me not.”
Mt 13:17 (Cf. Lk 10:24)
“For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.”

Matthew has Jesus’ addressees the Jewish nation, thus making the teachings of Jesus unique to his time. For Thomas the disciples must take advantage of Jesus’ presence while he remains with them, as He is unique and will eventually leave them.
