Logion 36

36. Jesus said, “Be not concerned from morning until evening and from evening until morning about what ye will wear.”
(The Greek adds: “How much better are ye than the lilies that wax but spin not. If ye have clothing …. ye? Who could add to the length of his life? He himself will give you your clothing.”
His disciples say unto him: “When wilt thou be revealed unto us and shall we see thee?” He saith: “When ye undress and are not ashamed….“
)
Mt 6:25; Cf. 25-34; Lk 12:22-31
…“Take no thought for…your body, what ye shall put on… Take therefore no thought for the morrow;…”

Jn 7:34
“Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me; and where I am, thither ye cannot come.”

Temporal concerns distract from spiritual growth. The physical necessities of life must not extend beyond those required to maintain physical existence. The world displays no more than what it needs to survive. Strip yourselves down to the bare necessities. Speaking about being revealed (i.e., uncovered): you must live a life that when displayed in all honesty to others will cause you no embarrassment (cf. log. 37).
