Logion 17

17. Jesus said, "I shall give unto you that which no eye hath seen and which no ear hath heard and which no hand hath touched and which hath never entered into the mind of man."
I Co 2:9
But as it is written, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
Is 64:4
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

It is a common frustration that human language is incapable of expressing the truths of the gospel message. The mind requires a model, of which there are possibly few adaquate to help the understanding. Mark gives a variation on this saying with almost every parable, cf. logion 8.
