Logion 7

7. Jesus said, "Blessed is the lion which man will consume, and the lion becometh man; and cursed is the man whom the lion consumeth, and the lion becometh man." Cf. Th 11

In the oriental mind a man by eating what has died may acquire certain attributes of that thing. In logion 7 Jesus speaks about the benefit that a lion might attain to by devouring a man and hence presumably acquire human traits. Yet, the man would lose everything of value were he to lose those traits. In logion 11 Jesus is referring to the food value of dead animals in preserving man’s life. In logion 60 he points out again that an animal must die before its corpse can be eaten. Here, however, we are admonished not to die spiritually: thereby our divine attributes are eroded.
