45The thunderstorm and earthquake (heaven-quake?) seem to symbolize the pangs of labor. Matthew has an earthquake accompanying the death of Jesus as a sign (Mt 27:50–54), Luke an eclipse of the sun (Lk 23:44–47). Just as stars are the host of Heaven, shooting stars become signs of their birth.
