| 28Here there is harmony in the motions of the planets whether forward or in reverse. The purpose of the gods behind the motions appears to be arbitrary, but always maintaining some sort of harmony. The implication seems close at hand that the gods guide the fate of men by means of the motions of the planets. Hence arises the basis of astrology, the idea that by following the motions of the lights of the sky, ones fate may be clarified. And, indeed, in this work the principle that each soul is assigned a genius, i.e., a lot in life, or guide one of the hosts of heaven is propounded. |
