15The duration of a person’s life is obviously not so long. To the Greeks the “journey” bounded by these extreme limits referred to one of a series of re-incarnation cycles (cf. the next following paragraph), whose lengths were somehow governed by the revolutions of the planets. The Apocalypse has the length of the coming reign of Christ as a thousand years, i.e., a “millennium” (Rev. 20:2, 4). Peter (2 Pet. 3:8) reminds us of the Jewish hymn (Ps. 90:4) in making this length of time a day of the Lord, traditionally associated with the Jewish priest’s day of creation (Gen. 1:5).
