a ternary feature arising on nouns and (personal) pronouns, ¶11-1-6. The English user can usually interpret the g. of a noun as something with that particular sex. Masculine g. corresponds to the male sex, feminine g. to the female sex, and neuter to neither, ¶11-3-2.
