adverb of extent EXT an adverb which the author may set before an adverb (AVB) or adjective (ADJ) or after a determiner to modify its extent, §14-0. With a quantifying limiting adjective (QLA) the a. of e. may be 1) an adverb of degree (DEG) or also placed as a modifier to an adverb of degree, 2) a demonstrative (DEM), or 3) an adverbial noun of number (NP), ¶15-3-3. The PS-rule for an a. of e. is recursive. The a. of e. contrasts with an identifier, which may also occur as a modifier to an adverb of degree, either one there being designated a “prepositive adverb of extent.” Together with an approximative phrase the a. of e. constitutes an “adverb phrase of extent.”
