14. It seems entirely possible that the reference to Illinois is a later scribe’s “correction” to an original reference to “Nauvoo,” the small settlement near Robert Holt’s place in Arkansas. This could have been where Solomon’s brother John Marshall lived (on Frenchman’s Bayou). The scribe could well have thought of the city in Illinois, which, however, had been abandoned by the saints in 1846.
