The Bagley lineage traces back from the mother of the wife of a Quaker immigrant from Overbury in Worcestershire, England. She was one of the first settlers of Birmingham, Chester, Pennsylvania. Her father Edward was raised as the son of a preferred deerkeeper of Baron Edward Sutton, 5th Lord Dudley, of Staffordshire, England. The evidence from the testimony of documents produced in that time points strongly at the possibility that Edwards mother was among the many illegitimate offspring of the baron himself.
